The Flamborough Food Bank strives to make good food a priority and ensure local families have consistent access to food support. Their welcoming grocery store allows local families to browse and shop for food at no cost every two weeks. Their unique shopping experience gives families the dignity and comfort of choosing groceries for their entire family. They believe that access to nutritious food is a basic human right, and are committed to responding to the needs of our community through food distribution and support services.
McMaster Children’s Hospital has been providing care to children from across the region since 1988. Here, patients ranging in age from infancy to 17 receive care through a family-centred approach that accounts for the child’s emotional, mental and physical well-being. The hospital is home to the fastest-growing kids-only emergency department in Ontario, one of Canada’s most advanced neonatal intensive care units, and a range of programs and clinics with unique expertise in a number of areas including children’s cancer, digestive diseases, and mental health.
Built in 1993 and located next to McMaster Children’s Hospital, RMHCSCO is independently owned and operated by Kid’s Care Oncology Central West Ontario and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, managed by a small staff team and supported by a full complement of dedicated volunteers. RMHCSCO provides families in crisis a home to everyday moments when life is far from ordinary.
Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides empowers Canadians living with disabilities to navigate their world with confidence and independence, by providing a Dog Guide at no cost and supporting them in their journey together. Located in Oakville, Ontario with a breeding and training facility in Breslau (between Kitchener and Guelph), they are the only school to train Dog Guides in seven distinct programs. From breeding to rearing and training with a life-time of follow-up services, each Dog Guide is $35,000 to train and place. The Foundation relies on donations to provide these special matches and does not receive any government funding.
Since 1982, Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre has provided a program of therapy, recreation, sport and life skills training for children and adults with special needs. The program focuses on individual ability by providing an environment of challenge, enjoyment and achievement.
In addition to therapeutic riding lessons, which are taught by Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA) certified instructors, Sunrise offers integrated programs open to individuals with and without special needs.
The Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre (JHCC), located on the Hamilton escarpment, is home to one of the largest and most comprehensive Regional Cancer Programs in Ontario. A general medical/surgical hospital, it serves a population of more than 2.3 million people and offers a diverse set of patient care services including a comprehensive emergency department, medical and intensive care services, surgical oncology, complex malignant hematology, oncology, orthopedics, arthroplasty, rehabilitation and diagnostics. The JHCC is also a pioneer in life-saving adult stem cell transplant and cellular therapy where the first successful transplant from an unrelated donor in Canadian history took place.
Interval House of Hamilton consists of the Victoria & Friends emergency 22-bed shelter, as well as community programs, for women and their children who are experiencing family violence, abuse and/or human trafficking. Founded in 1986, Interval House of Hamilton was the first shelter in Hamilton dedicated to exclusively serving women and children who have experienced violence or abuse. Today, Interval House of Hamilton offers a wide variety of programs and services, including community-based programs that provide counselling, peer-support, legal advocacy, and system navigation.
Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is the largest and only all-Canadian wish granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness or have severe genetic or neurological conditions. For more than 34 years, Children’s Wish has worked tirelessly to grant heartfelt wishes to over 25,000 children and their families — that’s three wishes each and every day, all year long!
Each wish is as unique as the child who makes it and has a direct and positive impact on the lives of children and their families. The joy of a wish often provides a welcome respite for the child and their family, a break from medical appointments and their usual treatment routines. Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada relies entirely on the generosity of donors and volunteers to fulfill its mission.

They empower Canadians to live healthier lives, from preventing and controlling high blood pressure to getting more physical activity. They also fight for change that will create better health for all, such as reducing salt in the food supply and improving access to stroke rehabilitation.
The Canadian Cancer Society works tirelessly to save and improve lives. Thanks to their donors and volunteers, they’re able to fund groundbreaking cancer research into all types of cancer, offer support services to help people better manage life with cancer, shape healthy public policies to prevent cancer and support those living with the disease, and offer trusted cancer information for all Canadians.
CHHA-Hamilton is one of many Branches of the Canadian HARD of HEARING Association. It is a non-profit organization led by hard of hearing and deafened individuals with varying degrees of hearing loss. CHHA advocates the rights and needs of hard of hearing and deafened persons at the municipal level in an effort to break down social barriers, create awareness and fully integrate hard of hearing and deafened persons into our city.
For more than 18 years, Eagles Nest has been working for the community in Flamborough to equip people with the tools to create a healthier future. They offer counselling, coaching and support programs to adults, youth and children. Their services are fully subsidized or minimal cost to help make them accessible to everyone.
